Plans Change Goals Stay the Same

It’s no doubt that these are uncertain times that we are going through. The beginning of the year has been tough. Our daily routines have been blown up. We are learning our new “norm”. Part of us wants to act like everything is the same and part of us is struggling to find who we are in this new world. A sad truth is, things will never be the same but the beauty in that is THINGS WILL NEVER BE THE SAME. This is a whole new opportunity! This is a chance to reinvent and reconfigure. (I understand that this is also a statement of privilege)
Remember those intentions and goals that you set at the beginning of the year? That goal to get more fit, that goal to eat healthier, that goal to lose weight or build muscle. Though things have changed, our goals remain the same. They are still very possible.
Tip #1 : Indoor / Outdoor Workout
Pick 6 movements that you love, get your playlist on, and get moving! They don't have to be complicated but they do need to be challenging and fun!
Sample:
10 Squats
10 Jumping Jacks
10 Burpees
10 Pushup
10 High Knees (each leg)
10 Skater Hop
Rest and Repeat!
Tip #2: Accountability Buddies / Fit Buddies/ Squat Gang - You name it!
The motivation may dwindle but this is when your discipline and your consistency need to kick in. Get your pals on Zoom or FaceTime if you need some accountability. Set a time (ex: Wednesday 9:00am) that you and your friends are going to hop on Zoom or FaceTime and workout together. Get your timer out and each person can pick an exercise.
Tip #3 Meal Prep to the goddss pooh!
Theres no time like the present they say. YOU HAVE THE TIME TO MEAL PREP, because there is nothing else to do. I suggest meal prepping every 2-3 days, that way your food still tastes fresh! We don't eat soggy food honey. Meal prepping will also help minimize the time you have to spend going out to buy food.
Tip #4 Get some Vitamin D!
Take the time to walk outside, while following the guidelines for social distancing. The guidelines say that we are allowed to be outside, we just can't gather in crowds. Find a nearby park and get to steppin'. This will also help boost your mood. The sun has a way of doing that!
Truth is, I don’t know when this going to end and I don’t know what the future will hold. I do know that everything will be okay. We will come out of this stronger and better than when we came in. Lean on your community and trust the people around you. (But, you know, at a physical distance)
You got this.
We got this!
How are you staying sane during this time? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
